I am sure many of us are already familiar with this great tool from Google. Providing custom RSS feeds and many other useful tools for web publishers since 2004, today it has become a must have. If you are not using it you just don't know what you are missing or what your site is lacking. Every serious blogger out there and their grandmother have it and know its importance. But just how great is this FeedBurner?
FeedBurner provides many useful tools to web publishers. One of them is email subscription services. Content is delivered straight to the inbox of your subscribers when you publish. This is a good way of ensuring your readers stay updated on what you are blogging about. Not many people will remember to check out your blog again and again, but they are always checking their inbox. When people read a good post they always feel inclined to comment. This will bring them back to your blog.
FeedBurner pingshot. When I started blogging, I used to ping my posts manually using services like Pingoat until I stumbled upon this great service from FeedBurner. Pinging is one great way of promoting your blog posts. FeedBurner automatically notifies directories and other aggregators about new content in your site immediately you publish.
You can also analyze your feeds trough FeedBurner count. You are able to know how many people are subscribed to your blog. One can also use this tool to show blog popularity. If you have a thousand or more people subscribed to your feed you might want to show that on your blog. It shows authority.
Using Google Adsense one can also make an extra coin from Adsense for feeds. However if you ask me, I would never recommend this to anyone. Trust me people are tired of seeing ads everywhere. The last place they want to see them is in their inbox. If you are looking for that extra dollar you might try it but remember, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages by far.
If you have not been using FeedBurner, go check it out. It is one tool you will forever love.
